Nabarangpur: While inaugurating a meeting to commemorate the
6th death anniversary of the freedom fighter and Gandhian, and Khadi activities
President awardee, Mondei shree Jagannath Tripathy, Former minister Niranjan
Patniak, who is the chief guest of the occasion stressed upon the youth to
eulogize and imbibe patriotism of freedoms fighters.
Prior to one day of Martyr’s day to be observed on 24th August 2007 near the bank of Turi river of Papadahandi, in Nabarangpur district, sad demise of Jaganath Tripathy occurred in the evening of 23rd August 2007. Jagannath Tripathy born on 14th June 1922 joined the Indian national congress when he was student of class sixth.
Being inspirited by his teacher who was also Ex-chief minister, Dr. Sadasiva Tripathy, Uncle Laxmi Chandra Dash, at the age of nineteen launched Satyagraha on 7th January 1941 at Dasarapada of Nabarangpur. He created public opinion against the British Govt and arrested for nine months and additional 3 months totaling one year imprisonment. He organised the prisoners in jail and agitated from within the jail. He was a revoluntary youth leader in Koraput jail.
