Bhubaneswar:
The Odisha government on Wednesday signed a memorandum of
understanding (MoU) with the Airport Authority of India (AAI) for the
development of the proposed airport at Jharsuguda.
A
budget of Rs 200 crore has been set by AAI for the construction works of the
airport. The state government will make a contribution of Rs 75 crore.
The
MoU was signed by AAI chairman Alok Sinha and special secretary of the state
General Administration department Nitin Chandra in the presence of chief
minister Naveen Patnaik.
The
airport would be developed in two years’ time subject to the condition that the
state govt provides the requisite land in time. According to the MoU, the state
government will provide 296.50 acres of land, 118.75 acres immediately, to the
AAI for the development of the airport.
