Bhubaneswar:
The ruling Biju Janata Dal celebrated its 17th foundation day. On the occasion,
chief minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik said that opposition parties
are trying to spoil the image of BJD in the state as they have become
frustrated over their failure in the elections.
Patnaik
said that transparency, good governance, service are the base of party’s
activities. “Steps are being taken to fulfill the promises made by the party
during elections,” said Patnaik.
Criticising
the opposition parties, Patnaik said that some national parties can’t tolerate
immense success of BJD in elections. The national parties never stood for the
welfare of Odisha, whereas BJD has always worked for the welfare of Odisha,
added Patnaik.
Patnaik
also criticised the step-motherly attitude of central government towards
Odisha. Patnaik alleged that Odisha has never got adequate assistance from
centre. “There should be no political consideration while allocating funds to
the states under the federal structure,” said Patnaik. Since BJD is committed
to protect interests of the state, it would continue its fight against the
central negligence, added Patnaik.
Among
others, Culture minister Ashok Chandra Panda, Bhubaneswar MP Prasanna Patasani,
MLA Bijay Kumar Mohanty, Priyadarshi Mishra, Sashi Bhusan Behera, Mayor Anant
Narayan Jena, BJD General Secretary Narendra Kumar Swain spoke on the occasion.
