Saraswati Puja is celebrated every year on the fifth day of
the Indian month Magh, the first day of spring.
Basant Panchami or Shree Panchami or Saraswati Puja is an
important Hindu festival. Hindus regard Basant Panchami is the birthday of
Goddess
Saraswati. Saraswati Devi is believed to be the goddess of
knowledge, music, art and culture. So Hindus celebrate Basant Panchami with
great fervor in temples, homes and even schools and colleges as students across
India
utter the Saraswati prayer before the idol of the Goddess of knowledge and
arts.
Basant Panchami day is an auspicious day for teaching
children to write their first words & start their learning and also
considered very auspicious works like marriage, construction of house,
beginning of a factory, inauguration of an educational institute etc.
