VISWASS celebrated 10th Annual Day

Bhubaneswar: The 10^th Annual Day of the VISWASS was celebrated on 19^th December on college premises. Prof.(Dr) Basudev Chhatoi Chairman C.H.S.E (O) was the  Chief Guest on the august gathering to  grace the occasion. Dr. Kabi Prasad Mishra, an eminent Cardiologist was the chief speaker, Mr. B.S Pani, Former Executive Director NALCO was the Guest of Honour. The Chair Person,Smt.PratimaGharai, Secretary,VISWASS, Prof. L.N. Panda Principal , Prof. R.K. Mohanty , Principal , +2 Science college were also  present in the function . Mr. Antony Mathew proposed a vote of thanks at the end.

Ten Medical Colleges soon in Odisha

Ten more medical colleges are likely to be established in the state. Four will be set up by the government, three by PSUs and another by an entrepreneur. At present, there are three government-run medical college and hospitals at Cuttack, Berhampur and Burla and four private medical colleges. On the other hand the Hi-Tech Medical College & Hospital and Sardar Rajas Medical College and Hospital have already completed their construction works at Rourkela and Jaring in Kalahandi district.

The government will set up four more medical colleges in the state. While the Centre would fund around 75% of the cost, the state will bear the rest 25%, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), Steel Authority of India Limited ( SAIL) and Nalco will be setting up medical colleges at Talcher, Rourkela and Koraput respectively. Similarly, the private medical college will be set at Bhubaneswar, and a public health university was likely to come up in the state very soon.

New Flyover to be constructed in Khandagiri

Bhubaneswar: A day after the tragic accident, the Commissionerate Police decided to approach the State Government to impress upon the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for constructing a fly-over at Khandagiri Square.

A team comprising Police Commissioner R P Sharma and Project Director of NHAI, Anil Dixit, and Chief Engineer (Roads), Bharat Chandra Pradhan, visited the site to make an assessment of the road engineering as well as the scope for the fly-over.

Nabarangpur: Preparations are in full swing for the Mondei mega cultural festival,
which is going to take place on December 4th. Despite proposals to cancel the Mondei Cultural programmes from sections of people the district administration going to hold the Annual Cultural Festival Mondei- 2013 as per the scheduled.

It was unanimously decided by the district council of culture committee to go ahead and responses of all the committees are always encouraging said Collector & Chairperson District Council of Culture, Ms. Yamini Sarangi, while holding meetings with committees.

A noted researcher has recently unearthed of stone-cut inscriptions in Kayema hillock of Jajpur district

Jajpur: Seven stone slabs containing inscriptions were found by Dr Nrushing Charana Sahoo the former principal of Dharmasala College on Monday during his field research work in Kayema hill in Jajpur district. 

“It’s old and historic. I have found it. Credit of it goes to me. It will give a new dimension to archaeological research in Odisha”, said Dr Sahoo. 

“The inscriptions are believed to be of 12th century AD. The inscriptions are disfigured and hazy. It needs intense research by linguists to decipher”, added Dr Sahoo.
